What to Expect

I am so excited to capture your newborn. Your session will take place in the comfort of

your home, creating a relaxed and meaningful experience. Newborn sessions are baby led, if they're tired, we let them sleep, if they're hungry, we let them eat and so on.

My style is Fine Art Lifestyle Photography, which means I will document rather than pose your family in a natural, authentic way that fits your life.

My goal is to document the beauty of this next chapter in your life.

Day of the Session

When I arrive, I will take a look around to find the best naturally lit areas for family and

sibling portraits. Common spaces used include the living room, master bedroom, and

nursery.

I know what life is like with a newborn, a newborn and 3 year old and a newborn a 5 & 9 year old. There is no need to deep clean your home

before the session. If needed, we can adjust or tidy up small areas to create the best

setup for photos. Do not stress for I do not judge, and this should be a warm, comforting experience.

Your Baby

Your baby is perfect just as they are. I do not pose babies in unnatural ways or try to

make them sleep. Instead, I gently guide the session based on their needs and

temperament. I love the things most photographers don't- yawns, cries, eyes open, breast feeding, it shows who they really are.

I suggest dressing your baby in a simple, form-fitting onesie with no graphics or text.

A newborn or preemie-sized onesie often works best. I may also capture some nude or

near-nude images of your baby if you are comfortable with that.

Please have a few favorite swaddle blankets available for cuddling. My favorites are blankets that have been handed down or hand made just for your little one.

I also recommend feeding your baby about fifteen minutes before the session to help them feel calm

and content.

Newborn sessions can take time, and that is completely okay. The goal is

to create a relaxed and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Siblings

Welcoming a new baby is a big adjustment for siblings. I always aim to start with

sibling and family portraits while older children are most engaged. I often will ask for their help with the new little one. It helps them feel that their new role is very important.

There are no expectations for how siblings should behave. I will never force them into

posing or doing anything they are uncomfortable with. Preparing them for the session by

letting them know a photographer is coming to take family pictures can help them feel

more at ease. Avoiding surprises can make the experience smoother.

Parents

This is an incredibly special but also emotional time. You may feel exhausted,

overwhelmed, and full of love all at once. That is completely normal.

The goal of this session is not to make life look perfect but to capture the real beauty of

this season. You do not need to worry about anything other than being present with

your family. I like to pretend I'm a fly in your home, annoyingly in your space documenting your life as it is. So just love on your little ones, partners, and enjoy the screen free time together.

What to wear

I recommend neutral, comfortable clothing that makes you feel good. Soft, muted

tones tend to photograph beautifully. If you would like guidance on wardrobe choices,

feel free to reach out.

Final thoughts

My main goal is always to authenticity DOCUMENT your family the way it is now. You will look beautiful, misbehaving children do not phase me I have 3 of my own children and have photographed many families, let them be themselves- I'll handle the rest.

If your significant other isn't looking forward to our session, please go over this with him, let him know I won't ask him to do anything out of his comfort zone, he can tell me no, allow him to wear his comfy clothes too, most people don't chill in their house dressed to impress and he doesn't have to either.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out. I look forward to documenting

this beautiful chapter in your life.
