What to Expect
I am so excited to capture your newborn. Your session will take place at the hospital within the first 48 hours of your new one's life. Fresh 48 sessions are baby led, if they're tired, we let them sleep, if they're hungry, we let them eat and so on.
My style is Fine Art Lifestyle Photography, which means I will document rather than pose your Newborn in a natural, authentic way that fits your life.
My goal is to document the beauty of this next chapter in your life.
When you have an induction date or if you go into labor naturally, I ask that you just send me a message at your earliest convenience.
Day of the Session
I will ask you your room number and let you know when I'm on my way up. It's best to let your nurses know my approximant time of arrival as they may have some things to finish up with you first. I do ask that you remove any unnecessary clutter from the room. Trash, food trays, gift bags, car seats etc. If you're unable to, I'll be glad to help. We may just store them in a closet or bathroom for the moment. I know what life is like with a newborn. Do not stress for I do not judge, and this should be a warm, comforting experience.
Your Baby
Your baby is perfect just as they are. I do not pose babies in unnatural ways or try to make them sleep. Instead, I gently guide the session based on their needs and temperament. I love the things most photographers don't- yawns, cries, eyes open, breast feeding, it shows who they really are.
I suggest dressing your baby in a simple, form-fitting onesie with no graphics or text. A newborn or preemie-sized onesie often works best. I may also capture some nude or near-nude images of your baby if you are comfortable with that.
Please have a few favorite swaddle blankets available for cuddling. My favorites are blankets that have been handed down or hand made just for your little one, the hospital ones are great too!
I also recommend feeding your baby about fifteen minutes before the session to help them feel calm and content unless you'd like to have pictures of feeding in your gallery.
This may take time, and that is completely okay. The goal is to create a relaxed and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Parents
This is an incredibly special but also emotional time. You may feel exhausted, overwhelmed, and full of love all at once. That is completely normal.
The goal of this session is not to make your newborn look perfect but to capture the real beauty of this new season. You do not need to worry about anything other than being present with
your baby.
What to wear
I recommend neutral, comfortable clothing that makes you feel good. Soft, muted tones tend to photograph beautifully. If you would like guidance on wardrobe choices, feel free to reach out.
Final thoughts
My main goal is always to authenticity DOCUMENT your newborn the way it is now. Your baby is perfect and you're a rockstar!
If your significant other isn't looking forward to our session, please go over this with them, let them know I won't ask anyone to do anything out of their comfort zone, they can tell me no, allow them to wear their comfy clothes too.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out. I look forward to documenting this beautiful new chapter in your life.
