You booked your session, now what?
If you have invested in custom, Senior or teen session, you are likely excited about planning for your session. The reason I call it an investment is because it is. It's an investment in your money and your time, I know you want to make sure that everything goes great! One of the most fun parts of preparing for your session is planning what you will wear. This is the time to really express who you are! I know some of you stress about getting your outfits together, but trust me, you don't have to. While I do not style my seniors or teens, I do help them along the way if they ask. Here are some basic tips in preparing your outfits.
The most important tip. Be true to YOU! My photography style is meant show the authentic YOU. If you don't usually wear dressy clothing, DON'T. If you HATE dresses, don't put on a dress. If you can't stand wearing button down shirt, don't put one on. If you are a sporty person, dress sporty. You can find clothing that fits your style that is clean, nice, AND comfortable. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't dress your best, but it DOES mean that you can dress your best in your OWN style.
Coordinate, don't match. Stay away from florescent colors. Please, don't wear those athletic shirts that are bright neon orange or yellow. What that means is that your face will be bright neon orange or yellow. Graphics tend to go out of style so I suggest staying away from them unless they're simple design or a brand that's been around for a long time like Nike or Under Armour.
This is your time to SHINE! I love when you're in an outfit you feel great in and it shows! Choose something you feel amazing in. Bring any sports jersey's that you preform in, any shirts that represent your school, items that represent your future career, caps and gowns etc.
Dress in layers. Layers add interest but also allow for removing clothing to create more beautiful images that don't all look the same and gives a variety to your galleries. Think scarfs, hats, vests, cardigans, tights, blazers, jackets etc...…..
Don't forget shoes and accessories are important too. A great outfit with ratty shoes wont look as good. Think about how the shoes will match as well as necklaces and headbands etc. These items can add a pop of color too! Or simply go without!
Make a Pinterest board or inspiration board with outfit ideas. it will help you get a feel for colors and patterns you love as well as trends you like.
Ask me for help! Don't be shy. We are in this together and I am more than happy to help you along the way. Promise! I am easily reached through my Facebook business page or email. Have fun with this!
Ditch the parents! (sorry mom and dad) but at this age you don't want mom bugging you to smile, or tucking in your shirt, that's my job! This will be fun and I'll make you laugh so you don't feel the need to force a smile. We'll do model "stare" shots so you feel fierce. If you want, bring a close friend to tag along and make inside jokes with. They most likely wont be in your pictures but let's never say never ;)
